To review the newly revised AS9003 to determine its effectiveness and usability for small non-critical part suppliers
Objective:

  2. What is the purpose and scope of AS9003?
  3. Is this new standard a reasonable alternative (to AS9100) for the Ma and Pa shops?
  4. Will a standard without all of the baseline ISO 9001 requirements really work?
  5. How will the removal of 8.2.1 Customer Satisfaction impact the effectiveness of the standard?
  6. Will the changes to Control of Nonconforming product have any adverse effects on the product?
  7. In its current form, Boeing has indicated that they will not use the standard. What impact will this have on its application in the industry? What is it that Boeing doesn’t like about the standard?
  8. What impact will removal of 8.1 General have on a company’s improvement initiatives?
  9. The balloting on the standard closes March 9th. What is its current status and is it expected to be approved by AAQG?
  10. What impact will the removal of 6.2.2 Competence, Training and Awareness have on the application of the standard?
  11. How will the elimination of the management review requirement really work? What are the new requirements of the Management Representative?
  12. Without the requirement to conduct internal audits, will the system really be maintained? Could an enhanced surveillance audit replace the internal audit requirement?
